Movie Night

The Mrs. and I went to see "Act of Valor" today.  Every blog I have read has had high praise for the movie.  I'll just go ahead and lump mine onto the pile.  This movie was pretty incredible.  There were some points where the acting was a little weak (what did you expect, they aren't actors by trade), but the sequences where they let the operators operate was over and above fantastic.  It's a great flick and I recommend seeing it on the big screen before it gets out of the theater.  I just don't think a living room TV will quite do it justice.

    1. Oh, I feel for you, kymber. Still, the benefits of living out there probably outweigh not being able to see a movie in the theater.

  2. Yep, it MUST be seen and it MUST be seen on the big screen. Movies like this don't come along just everyday.

    1. TJ, I was wanting to see it pretty bad, then saw you post on it and it just lit a fire under me. I'm glad I got into the theater, I think this is the last weekend it will be here.

  3. mmasse, Mrs. 45er loved it. Then again, she hates the thought of Twilight, too, so I'm lucky that way.

  4. Lucky you, 45er. My wife loves the "Twilight" series, has them all on DVD/BluRay, and absolutely HATES it when I refer to the latest as "Breaking Wind". Gotta hand it to Stephanie Meyers, though...she certainly knows her target audience, and has made a metric cubic butt-load off these books.

Had a kiddo-free Saturday this weekend, so after a trip to the local Army-Navy surplus store, the wife and I caught a movie. Since I'd seen all the Twilight movies with her (there's about 8 hours of my life I'll never get back), she agreed to see....."John Carter". Couldn't convince her to catch "Act of Valor". Still, "John Carter" was good, but I will definitely be buying AoV when it hits BluRay, before I even see it.

  5. Oh, Kirk. I feel for you. I had a friend years ago when these things first started hitting the big screen and that was a real painful time for me to just have to hear about it all of the time. I'm stealing the "breaking wind" nickname. I definitely don't fault Ms. Meyers for knowing her audience and making her jack while she can. I haven't decided if I want to see "John Carter" yet. I know the back story, but I'm waiting to hear if it's worth the theater price. If you can get in to see AoV in the theater, it is really worth it for the big screen and audio in the theater. Don't mind the acting, you're there for the action and gun play.
