we get big bags of the raw ones too and if we are cooking something that needs sliced almonds, we slice them and toast them - it is way cheaper to buy big bags of raw ones. have you ever made almond milk? it's delicious and very simple. yell if you want the recipe!
I wouldn't mind trying that at all. I've been wondering if almond butter is doable. I've heard cashew butter is pretty darn good. I just wonder if almonds have the oil content for that?
send me an email at kymberzmail@gmail.com and i'll fire ya off the recipe. i have never made almond butter but just did a quick search and it looks like there are a ton of recipes for it out there!!! if you end up making the butter let me know!
Oh, yeah. Sorry bout that, Rabid. A hint, though. I think the coating on mine didn't quite look right because I used Sugar in the Raw which has larger granules. Therefore, it probably didn't dissolve completely like it should. On the next batch, I will take a mortar and pestle to it and get the grain size down a bit.
you know that i will be giving these a try - we looooove almonds! thanks Brigid! and thanks 45er!
ReplyDeleteyour friend,
kymber
We love almonds, too, kymber. My wife buys the raw ones by the big bag. Just know that if you make them you will sit and eat way more than you should.
