So, we're watching The Learning Channel which, honestly, is a lot less about learning nowadays and a lot more about dysfunction. True to that line of reasoning, I saw a commercial for
this. From the commercial I saw, it appears the point of the show is to find the kookiest, craziest group of "preppers". There is a reasonable amount of prep that everyone should do. I'm thinking a show like this will make people view even reasonable preparation as "loony".
LOL yeah that chanel has become about sensationalizing things. Makes me sad. Though hubby thinks I am going a little nutty. I saw a metal floor on a show that a Guy used to try and electrocute someone. I said "we should totally put that on the dream house/retreat house porch. It would save on bullets if someone meant us harm." I got an odd look. He knew I had a massive imagination when he married me LOL.
ReplyDeleteWow, that does sound interesting. The law kind of frowns on that, but if there is no law...
ReplyDeleteThe truth is the S does H T F and sometimes in a big way (Katrina). While I think something on a national scale is unlikely, being prepared for a "red" event is nothing to be ashamed about. I'm just thinking by focusing on the extreme for sensation it will make being prepared something of which you're supposed to be ashamed.
Meh... It's ALL about sensationalism... You hit THAT nail on the head!
ReplyDeleteI know, NFO. I watch "The Soup" enough to know that we reward way too much for bad behavior. Welcome to the follower jumble. I'm happy to have a learned soul such as yourself around here to keep me straight.
ReplyDeleteJust kill the TV. I sound like the grumpy old man, but I went through all of the channels the other day and saw the collapse of civilization.
ReplyDeletePS. Stay off my lawn.
ReplyDeleteLeviathan, are you Clint Eastwood in "Gran Torino"? I know what you mean. I grumble as I flip through the channels. I made fun of grumpy old men then woke up one day and I was one.
