A friend of mine is getting a new toy. And not just any new toy! I'm pretty excited for two reasons: that he has decided to pull the trigger so to speak and that I get to try out an STI. I have had a Les Baer for many years and it is just a joy to shoot. I'm real interested to see how STI does things.
Also, I'm going to do my best at not complaining about having to send in one little gun. I mean, really, this is a pretty good cross section of companies out of one collection.
I'll be interested in your comments... How many rounds did it take to break the Baer in???
ReplyDeleteThe Baer is an interesting story. It was given at cost as a tip when I was a hunting guide and came with 3,000 rounds free. I miss those days. It had a few hiccups in the first 200 rounds, but nothing really after that. The 3K rounds are long gone and it's probably had over 8,000 through it with no issues at all.
ReplyDeleteI will do side-comments with the STI and link to That Guy's blog when he posts his full report. After all, it's going to be his gun. The jerk.
Reason I asked was I've shot Baers and didn't like them because they are too tight, and I've seen three different ones 'freeze' at between 150 and 200 rounds because of fouling and the slides locking...
ReplyDeleteI would be beyond furious if that happened to a gun I spent that kind of money on. I will tell you, mine is pretty tight. It feels smoother after it's been cleaned (what gun doesn't?), but I've shot it filthy and back and not had a problem.
