Store owner comes out on top with some bullets

Well, good for him I say.  I'm sure being absolutely terrorized by two armed thugs is not any kind of fun.  Especially when they are waving guns and beating on you.  So, kudos for the clerk.  Downside:  apparently it wasn't on his person.  That gun under the counter isn't going to do you much good when you're stocking groceries or in the bathroom when the bad happens.  It also doesn't do a lot of good when you're getting monkey-stomped on the ground.  I'm hoping the clerk is re-considering his choice of firearm placement.  I know if I worked a convenience store I'd look like I had Batman's utility belt on under my shirt and for some reason I would be carrying, like 3 "wallets."  All-in-all, good outcome.  Lessons to learn.  Also, I'd love to see if there is store video released soon.

A little more in this story.

Also, notice that firearms aren't about "stopping power" on an assailant, they are about the power of stopping the assailant.  Neither of these thugs dropped immediately to the floor, but they both stopped what they were doing to try and exit post-haste and that's what matters most.

  1. Good for him, and good riddance to a couple of thugs...

  2. Like you said, poor placement. I keep mine on from sunrise to sunset or until I'm home and even then its within reach. Of course at my shop it's legal for me to open carry. Two down...like Old NFO said, good riddance.

  3. Right on. Gotta love Texass' "shoot to stop" bit. But, like its been said before, nothing "stops" like a pair of hollow points to the left ventricle. Heh...heard it said, also: "I shoot matched ammunition. The hollow point bouncing around in the left lung matches the one in the right lung."

  4. Criminals need to learn. Do this and we just may kill you.

Anti-gun people are the ones who are rooting for thugs (I'm sure one of their momma's gonna say "He was turning his life around! He was such a good boy!"), the rest of us say good on the guy who was doing his job, and wanted to go home, rather than to the morgue.

    1. I was thinking the same thing, Weer'd. Waiting for the "he was such a good boy" stuff. Of course, the antis will see the uprising of the victims as some kind of verification of their blood in the streets prediction. I'll just see a bunch of empowered citizens.

  5. Good for him indeed!!

I have been known to occasionally get lazy and put my gun on at home, but since my last oops, I have been religious about having it on my person!!

    1. Agirl, I know what you mean. I used to carry a large one at home all of the time. I've found that I really like to be comfortable at home and I find myself pocket-carrying a lot. If I'm comfortable, I'll do it all of the time. Also, I can fight to a rifle in my house like the saying says. :)
