P90X Day 1

(*&^ that sadistic &$(*@ son of *^%$#.

I swear, if I get my hands on that *^#$*...

I can't lift my arms.  I think that's a good thing.  One of my first thoughts was how many regrets I have for letting my fitness slide so much.  I remember doing push-ups until I was bored counting.  Now an 18 month old could count my push-ups for me.

I don't feel like I'm going to die anymore, so that's a positive thing.

It's about time I've buckled down.  I just think of how much this will improve my shooting and I can push through it.  That and a little Van Halen in the headphones doesn't hurt.

  1. Well I say kudos to you... I must add, I am smiling right now. I don't know you much, but I'm proud of you. I'm working out with "Insanity"... that's Horton's torture workout buddy, ShaunT... but hey, the crazy shit gets results... keep plugging away, and remember, when it hurts, it will show, and you will be stronger and more capable of doing whatever you wanna do ;-)

The motherfuckers do piss you off though, don't they? ;D

    1. I keep feeling myself it's worth it. Insanity sounds like truth in advertising to me.

    2. That's "telling" myself, by the way. I saw my phone had auto-corrected it wrong and didn't think it was a big deal until I just read it again, lol.

    1. It sure feels like it. It brought me back to two a days in football.

    1. I'm hoping to get through it in one piece, agirl. Thanks. It's nice to know someone lived through it. :)

  4. Just remember...at a certain age, pain is NOT weakness leaving the body!

    1. Unfortunately, Dan, I've learned that the hard way. Football was not good for my knees. I have been researching ahead of the exercises to make sure I'm not going to do something stupid. "I'm all fit, I make this full-body cast look good."

  5. Heh. I ran 10 miles a day (seeking out hills...I love runnin hills!) for years until the family's Bad Knees caught up with me. Now, I look at it this way: yes, working out will probably improve my shooting. But NOT working out gives me a place to rest spare mags while standing on the line. LOL

    1. I'm with you there, Rabid. We did day two today and I really liked some of the moves. Quite a few of them reminded me of a fighting stance which I could imagine helping a ton with my range time. I'd like to get rid of some of my mag resting area before a big shooting trip at the end of the year.

    2. I'd like to get rid of my own shelf before the wife decides to drag me to the pool (for the munchkin's enjoyment, of course) where Greenpeace representatives keep trying to drag me into the water. Nothing I've tried (low-impact, knees can't handle much) has worked so far, and even though I know muscle weighs more than fat, I get discouraged after 3 months with no reduction in the scale and a very miniscule (hopeful wishing, perhaps) increase in the gap between waist and waistline. Maybe once we get out from under debt, I'll be able to afford a gym membership. They have exercycles.

  6. I do understand the knee issue. I have to be pretty delicate with mine. This workout is pretty intense so you get quick results, but you can pace yourself and adjust for your needs. I've not pushed it with the plyometrics until I feel more strength in my legs to support my knees. There are plenty of exercises to do in each routine, so it's ok to take it easy on the ones that you aren't comfortable doing. It sure helps that Mrs 45er is doing it, too for extra incentive to keep going.
