Success!

Well, this morning was my first Whitetail of the season.  I took a very long spike that I passed on earlier and regretted.  He needed to go.  Sorry, no pictures.  I was going to, but a 7mm STW to the neck is not very conducive for a blog post picture.  Anyway, meat in the refrigerator!  When I opened our deer fridge (yes, we have one for deer in the garage) I saw quite the assortment of deer quarters in there from my dad and brother.  It looks like we have a bit of work ahead of us in the next few days.

The Taj-MaBlinds paid for themselves just on today's hunt.  We (That Guy and I) headed out this morning after a full night of rain.  After some slipping and sliding in the truck to get to the back of the lease and then some slipping and sliding on foot to walk to the blinds, we settled in.  About 30 minutes later the rain came pouring down again.  There's nothing like that warm, dry feeling when it's cold and raining just outside.  I commented about how bad it sounded to complain about a little wet and cold, but That Guy said he wasn't ashamed to be comfortable.  I have to say I agreed.

  2. Thanks, Stephen. I was reminded that it was already halfway through hunting season, so I thought I'd better stop just watching the deer.

  3. Nice! I'm afraid I might be making deer tag soup later this winter. And yes, having a roof over your head is never something to poopoo when it's cold and wet out.

  4. DaddyBear - Hope you have some better luck. In Kentucky, you might have more chances if you use a muzzleloader or bow. You're right, it sure is hard to feel bad when you're comfortable.

    Keads - Thanks!

  5. Congrats! I sit in what we call the "Hotel Stand" and I don't feel bad about sitting under a roof at all either ;)

  6. LB - Thanks! It sure makes me more likely to get out and hunt.

  7. Send summa that wet stuff down yonder, we's a might parched. Congrats on the kill. And like you said, a little comfort is nothing to sneeze at. I did my offshore "hunting" from under the shade of a Bimini top, on a boat with a nice cozy cabin and a 'fridge full of cold refreshments. Ah, those were the days...

  9. Craig, I know exactly where you're coming from. We were begging for rain for the last 10 months. I wasn't about to curse it over a silly hunting trip.

Thanks, NFO, and you're absolutely correct.
